Double Canthoplasty
During the consultation, Dr. Song Hoon mentioned that he could only extend the outer corners of my eyes by a few millimeters on each side. I was happy with any result, especially considering it was a bigger change compared to other surgeons I had consulted. However, in my opinion, he achieved a quite noticeable extension of the outer eye corners.
Girin Clinic provided post-operative care, including cleaning and stitch removal, but what mattered most to me was that they allowed me to return home early (though I truly appreciate that the clinic offers thorough aftercare for those who can stay in Seoul longer).
The healing process looked like this: my eyes were red and watery, with some bruising that faded in about two weeks, and sensitivity during eye movements lasted the first 3–4 days. I did not notice any significant swelling. On the second or third day, someone asked me out on a date (they didn’t mind the redness, though it was very noticeable). On the ninth day, I had an acting job, and the redness just looked like seasonal allergies.
I really love the new pink corners of my eyes and the altered shape—flatter and more puppy-like. I’m also impressed by how regularly the English-speaking Girin consultants checked in with me every few days and weeks. They are incredibly kind, making me feel well cared for. Their professionalism and attentiveness were a wonderful bonus to the excellent surgical result.

Double Canthoplasty
WORTH IT
I decided to have a double canthoplasty at Girin Clinic after seeing their post on Instagram. It showed that Dr. Song Hoon uses a special “7-mm canthoplasty” technique, which looked very impressive, and that was exactly the effect I wanted. I contacted the clinic via WhatsApp to clarify details, and they explained that this technique causes minimal swelling.
I chose double canthoplasty because during previous visits to Seoul, I had noticed women with very wide eyes, sometimes walking around right after their surgery. I had always admired the dramatic canthoplasty effect and had dreamed of getting this procedure for a long time.
Girin responded quickly on WhatsApp and helped me find suitable dates for my visit. At Cinderella Clinic, where I had also consulted, they advised against epicanthoplasty, but Girin confirmed they would perform it. Other clinics had also discouraged me from inner canthoplasty, which made me hesitant to book. Knowing I could have it done at Girin made me very happy, and I immediately paid the deposit.
When I arrived at the clinic, the staff were very professional, and the two translators were incredibly friendly! They helped me every step of the way. Dr. Song Hoon is calm, professional, and highly skilled, clearly explaining what could realistically be achieved. He and the consultant carefully reviewed all my photos to understand the desired result.

Lateral Canthoplasty
In the summer of 2022, I received lateral canthoplasty at Girin hospital from Dr. Song Hoon who is very well-known for his lateral canthoplasty procedure. I had a really great experience. From the moment I entered the doors, Jennie and Sondra (English translators) came, greeted me, and took me in for consultation. Dr. Hoon took his time (I didn’t feel rushed). Throughout the whole process, I was getting texts from Jennie and Sondra checking in on my progress. They were prompt, professional, and very reassuring. While it was weird to have stitches around my eyes, the recovery was fast and I am very happy with my results. They are very natural and the swelling went down a lot after 7 days.
